Angelina is a second-year Clinical Social Work student at Boston College and a member of the Black Leadership Initiative (BLI). She’s also a fellow at the Center for Child and Family Policy, working toward a certificate in Child Policy and Leadership. For her internship, she serves as a Policy and Research Intern at Strategies for Children, advocating for early childhood education and care right here in Massachusetts. 📚✊🏾
Angelina’s passion for research shines, with a specific focus on individuals across the African diaspora. She’s a research assistant in Dr. Ed-Dee Williams' Black Mental Wellness Lab, working on simulations to help Black youth with autism communicate about depression with their teachers. She also interviews participants for the Housing Opportunity & Mobility Experiment (HOME) Study, bringing care and cultural humility into her research practice.
If you attended Conference 2025 in Richmond,Virginia, you already know her dance moves are top tier! 💃🏾 But it’s her spirit that really lights up a room. Since attending the GBABSW Student Affairs Reception in November 2024, Angelina has hit the ground running. She recently became Co-Chair of our Communications Committee, where she brings the principles of Kuumba (Creativity) and Nia (Purpose) to life in everything she does.
Angelina’s infographics have uplifted and informed our community on key issues, from Black Maternal Health and the Momnibus Act in May, to Men’s Mental Health Awareness and Juneteenth in June. She has also developed content on Black Futures and Afrofuturism, reminding us of our power to imagine and build new possibilities for ourselves and our communities.
Angelina truly embodies Kuumba and Nia , using her creativity not just to design impactful content, but to strengthen our chapter’s visibility and voice while staying rooted in culture and community. She walks in purpose with every project she takes on, ensuring her work educates, uplifts, and moves us closer to the world we’re building together. She brings a fresh perspective and fearless dedication to every space she enters, leaving it better than she found it.
In the future, Angelina plans to become a therapist providing mental health services to Black youth, while also conducting research that centers the Black community to influence policies that create real change.
We are grateful for you, Angelina! Thank you for bringing your creativity, purpose, brilliance, and joy to GBABSW. We see you, we appreciate you, and we can’t wait to see all that you do, keep shining Queen 🌟
