Virtual MLK JR. Forum On Racial Justice 2025

The NASW-MA Chapter is hosting its MLK Jr. Forum on Racial Justice 2025 virtually on Wednesday, January 22 (6:00 - 8:00pm EST). This forum will focus on inequities in access to economic security and focus on policy to narrow the racial wealth gap in Massachusetts. According to a 2015 study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston; the median net worth of a white family is $247,500, while the median net worth of a Black family is just $8 in Boston. The COVID-19 pandemic has widened the racial wealth gap even more. Social workers will come together through this annual forum to recognize the barriers to economic security, learn strategies for engaging in advocacy to address this crisis, and work together with those most impacted. We will learn about efforts to reduce the wealth gap and the challenges that lie ahead in Massachusetts.
